Chicago Opens the 1st Coronavirus Antibody Testing Facility

Lincoln Park in Chicago hosts the first coronavirus antibody testing facility in the area. The tests that Innovative Express Care provides the public with show results after two-five days, helping detect if a person has been exposed to COVID-19.

The outdoor testing center is located in the 2400 block of North Ashland Ave., and can be visited with a previous online appointment for motorists.

The rest of the public can get tested for coronavirus antibodies on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Dr. Rahul Khare from innovative Express Care said that antibody testing is crucial in examining if an individual has developed immunity of COVID-19.

A lot of Chicago residents are eager to take the test covered by many insurance companies. Among the people who had all the symptoms of COVID-19 during mid-March but didn’t have the chance for a diagnostic test are Joan Dahlquist and her son.

This family was convinced that they developed antibodies to the virus, therefore came to the outdoor testing facility to check their blood. The results they got were positive, so now they feel more comfortable to help the elderly and visit older members from their family that they haven’t seen for over a month.

According to Dr. Khare, if someone didn’t have COVID-19 symptoms in the last two weeks should be tested for antibodies to detect if the person had developed immunity without even knowing they got infected.

As for the ones with symptoms, it’s best to get swabbed for the virus. Swab tests for coronavirus are also available at Innovative Express Care.
