The Challenge Continues: Scientists Struggle to Find an Accurate Antibody Test

There is no evidence of immunity after recovering from COVID-19, WHO warns. According to the worldwide medical experts, the only way to find out who has been exposed to the virus is by performing antibody testing, although no tests have shown accurate results so far.

Finding the right antibody test is the only key to reopening the countries, although many are rushing their way out of the lockdown.

The actual tests available on the market are not detecting whether the antibodies are corresponding to COVID-19, and if yes, for how long can they prevent from reinfecting.

According to bioengineers from U.C. Berkeley, some antibody tests are more accurate than others, pointing that three out of the ten tested might be the possible way out of this global crisis.

Health experts are alarming that COVID-19 doesn’t know about borders. If some states reopen, and others don’t, people would start moving around even more than usual, exposing themselves and their families to more risk. Returning to regular life is not an option yet unless we witness the discovery of an accurate antibody test soon.

On the other hand, the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research at Northwell Health is going through a new testing period of stopping the virus from replicating, by injecting infected patients with famotidine (acid reflux medication Pepcid). So far, they have no positive or negative results.
